For what type of businesses do we provide training?

Here at The Business Greenhouse we work with micro- and small businesses who desire to develop, improve or grow in a sustainable way. We can:

  • Work one to one with you or your team members
  • Deliver training to groups. You can be a group of people from the same business, people from a consortium of businesses that work together, or a group of business owners, managers and leaders who happen to know each other.
  • Organise open training sessions independently and on behalf of sponsors. We’ve done this for South Gloucestershire Council and RegenSW.

Marketing for profit

Aim: Devise an effective marketing strategy for your business that will deliver a measurable return on your investment in your marketing efforts.


During the training session you will:

  • Determine your marketing goals
  • Profile your target audience
  • Define the marketing messages you need to convey to your target audience
  • Select the best marketing tools to use for your business
  • Discover ‘How to’s’ for some common marketing tools
  • Schedule your marketing activity
  • Know how to implement, monitor and develop your marketing strategy


Outcome: You’ll leave with an improved understanding of how marketing will work for your business, and an actual marketing strategy that you’ll have developed specifically for your business. There will be plenty of opportunity to ask questions of your experienced marketer host, as well as delve in to how to make your strategy work for your business. Further, you’ll be able to take advantage of up to two hours advice and support after you finish the training to help you implement your new marketing plans and ensure they work for your business.

How to get media attention for your business

Aim: Go beyond just learning how to write a killer news release. Find out what makes a good story, how to connect and engage with journalists, and identify opportunities to get media coverage.


During the session you will:

  • Find out how to write and structure a news release
  • Explore other types of articles and news pieces and how to pitch them to journalists
  • Consider opportunities you can generate that journalists will want to cover
  • Identify how to find the journalists that will be interested in your story
  • Determine what journalists need from you and how to nurture a fruitful and long-term relationship with them
